FISHING IN SEYCHELLES
Fishing in Seychelles waters is an experience as rich in the pristine beauty of the surrounds as in the variety of the catch which includes tuna, jack, dorado, wahoo, barracuda, trevally, sailfish and marlin. Seychelles holds several world records.
A modern fleet of fishing vessels, some offering a high level of comfort, may be chartered to fish around the Inner Islands of Mahé, Praslin and la Digue and their satellites as well as further afield into the waters of the Outer Islands where still relatively few fishermen have tested their skills against the larger fish often found there.
Bottom fishing, or palangrotte, which is a very popular technique among the locals can also be enjoyed from many of these boats and can yield a fine catch of grouper, coral trout, snappers and a wide range of other demersals.
Certain of Seychelles’ Outer Islands such as Alphonse and Desroches have become known internationally for the excellent fly-fishing they offer and expeditions may also be arranged to these locations.
